It is highly likely that if you accept guests from a VERY HIGH alerts are it would invalidate your insurance.
If in doubt, please contact your insurance provider.
This is the Cottagesure RSA statement:
“Tier three residents are asked not to stay anywhere overnight outside of their area, as per the Government website:-
If you are a resident in a very high alert level area, we ask you to avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK, except if you need to for work, education or caring responsibilities. This means we are asking you not to leave the very high alert level area to stay in a second home, if you own one. You must not stay with anyone you do not live with elsewhere in the UK or visit their home.
If you are resident in a very high alert level area, you may travel to hotels and other guest accommodation within that area but you should only do this with people in your household or support bubble.
The Statutory Requirements Condition in the RSA Cottagesure policy states:-
You must comply with all statutory requirements and other safety regulations imposed by any government or local authority in relation to letting out your buildings. Failure to do so may invalidate your policy cover.”
So although not law, RSA have confirmed that they will treat guidelines as safety regulation and breach of such could invalidate any part of the policy.
